Tribal Legal Services for Native Families
Amber has worked with Native American Tribes in business transactions and in litigation at all levels, including tribal courts, state courts, federal district courts, the C.F.R. Courts of Indian Offenses, and the Interior Board of Indian Appeals. She has spent much of her career helping Native American tribes develop and implement laws, make positive and progressive changes to their tribal governments and institutions, and protect their enterprises. She has worked alongside tribal officials and their Economic Development teams to reach economic and business diversification goals. She’s dedicated to promoting and protecting the Native American culture and ways of life, and service to Native communities is still a very important part of my practice as a private family law attorney. Currently, she’s serving the following tribal jurisdictions:
- Tulalip Tribes
- Muckleshoot Indian Tribe
- Nisqually Indian Tribe
- Puyallup Tribe
As a Captain and Judge Advocate with the Washington Army National Guard, Beverly is familiar with the military’s administrative and criminal law process. Beverly has represented service members and their families in Washington State and Germany with family law, immigration, and administrative matters.
Beverly has helped dozens of servicemembers and their families with military issues such as division of military pensions, spousal support agreements, and relocations due to military orders. As a third-generation servicemember and a proud Judge Advocate, Beverly is happy to assist you or your loved one with your military legal needs.
Every personal injury case requires an evaluation of your injuries—whether they are physical, psychological or both—and an evaluation of the damage to your vehicle or property. For most people, an accident is stressful because they don’t fully understand their rights or the legal process. Insurance companies and defense attorneys will try to take advantage of your confusion to cheat you out of full and fair compensation for your injuries. We will make sure you understand the process as we provide zealous advocacy at every turn.
At Allen & Bighorse, we understand that being charged with a crime is one of the most frightening and frustrating experiences you or a loved one can experience. We have skilled and compassionate attorneys who are dedicated to fighting for your rights.
Pro Bono Work
Amber grew up in Western Oklahoma, disadvantaged and displaced by domestic violence throughout her teen years. She had opportunities to pursue post-secondary education after high school despite many obstacles including poverty, lack of parental support, and lack of housing. Those opportunities were made possible by an incredibly caring, encouraging, and selfless educator who has been a hero to her everyday since those beginnings and will be everyday hereafter.
Beverly has dedicated much of her adult life to helping those in need. She advocates for various causes in her community and is passionate about the work she does for Tacoma’s homeless population.
So many of our life experiences have led us to develop an appreciation for and understanding of the daily struggles that people face, whether the struggle involves dealing with domestic violence or lack of a support system; the loss of loved ones; mental and physical health issues; drug addiction; fear and anxiety about day to day survival; or, the inability to simply make ends meet. We have had challenges in our own lives and wouldn’t be the attorneys we are today if not for the compassion and care and sense of community that so many people have shown us, by example, throughout the years.
We strive to pay it all forward through our work as attorneys. It is our goal to provide at least 50 hours of pro bono legal services per year. If you or loved one has a need for pro bono legal services, please do not hesitate to contact us for a consultation.
